Our Fourth Annual Teddy Bear Drive

I am very proud to announce that our Fourth Annual Teddy Bear Drive was a great success.  Thanks to the generosity of the courthouse community and the hard work of our volunteers, we were able to collect 730 teddy bears this year and distribute them to hospitalized and less fortunate children in the communities that we serve. 
The collection period began on November 23rd and lasted through December1 9th.  Many Commands set up Teddy Bear Drive displays to inspire individuals to donate . Teddy bears were distributed by our member volunteers on December 20th to children at the following locations:

 

             Winthrop University Hospital
             Winthrop Pediatric Oncology Ward
             Schneider Children's Hospital
             Ronald McDonald House
             Franklin General Hospital
             Nassau University Medical Center

 

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of the courthouse community.  In the past four years they have donated over 2,900 teddy bears to make this project a great success. We wish that everyone who donated a bear could have been there to see the smiles that they brought to the children's faces. One of our goals for 2008 is to continue to expand our Teddy Bear Drive to more Commands throughout the state. 
If you would like to volunteer to be a 2008 Teddy Bear Drive Team Leader in your Command, please contact us.  We will be happy to help you co-ordinate this project and distribute the bears to hospitalized and less fortunate children in your community.
